The founder

James W. McCreary

James has spent the last seventeen years working alongside American small and mid-sized business owners — first as an operator inside a family-owned distribution company, then as an independent advisor. He has lived through three recessions, two ownership transitions, one successful sale, and the daily reality of meeting payroll on a Friday afternoon.

He started Engkauani Gomes Advisory in 2018 with a simple thesis: serious advice doesn't need to be loud, and it shouldn't be priced like a luxury good. Every engagement is led by James personally, from the first call to the final review.

James lives in Diamond Bar with his family. When he is not with clients, he is most often hiking the Schabarum Trail, restoring a 1972 truck that has refused to be finished for six years, or coaching little-league baseball.

Our home

Rooted in Diamond Bar, California.

We are based in the foothills of the San Gabriel Valley, halfway between the Inland Empire and downtown Los Angeles — close enough to client offices across Southern California, far enough to keep our heads clear.

Most of our clients are within a two-hour drive. The rest we visit four to six times a year and meet weekly by video in between. There are no junior consultants on site. There is no "engagement team." There is James, the work, and the people doing it.
